It’s rugby season again! The glorious sports’ annual event has us all at the edge of our seats this year. Pub restaurant hotel giant Greene King requested for our models to feature in their rugby-themed photoshoot, so it’ll hopefully go down a treat for those avid fans of the famous world sport and the UK chain.
Don’t worry though – you haven’t missed the final games of the championship…yet! The competition started on Friday 2nd February but there’s still time to catch who’ll be crowned the champions. It’s set to finish late in the night on Super Saturday, which this year is on the 16th March (pencil this date in, rugby fans!)
The annual rugby union competition involves six European teams (hence its title – “Six Nations”): England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales.
The event is renowned for its high-quality rugby mixed with its intense and energised atmosphere drawing global attention.
Taking a step back in history, the competition was originally given the title Home Nations Championship in 1883. The founding nations who took part were England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, represented by the Irish Rugby Football Union. France later joined in 1910, and the tournament became the Five Nations. Ninety years on, Italy joined in 2000, making it the Six Nations as we know it today.
Looking at the scoring system, if a country wins five matches in a single season, this earns them the ultimate Grand Slam title. It’s also down to scores too – the more they score, the higher up the tournament table they go. The Triple Crown is dedicated only to the four Home Nations. If one wins against all home nations, they get to lift the trophy which means some nations get to win the championship but not the Triple Crown.
The six countries have been set to battle home and away over the coming weekends, giving room for rest and preparation in between matches. Currently, in the lead are the fourth Grand Slam winners Ireland which is no surprise. This fierce team were victorious over England scoring 29-16 in their capital Dublin on Super Saturday last year.
Taking a look at previous scores, out of the 128 fixtures, England has categorically won the most matches with 29, and 10 shared wins (the latter meaning that if teams landed on level points before 1994, they’d share the title).
England – 29 wins, 10 shared.
France – 18 wins, 8 shared.
Ireland – 15 wins, 9 shared.
Italy – 0 wins, 0 shared.
Scotland – 15 wins, 9 shared.
Wales – 28 wins, 11 shared.
As for our male and female models, they were selected to pose as rugby fans watching the Six Nations games at Manchester’s Greene King location. This campaign didn’t take place long ago – Thursday 4th January – to ensure it was ready in time for the championship.
Our team of twenty talented models were:
Ahmed (ZBVB-6747), Ricky, Robert (HDMP-7777), Mike (ZCXG-8446), Freddie (WSWF-8897), Dayle (VYMC-7443), Lukas (MNGR-7434), Joseph (ZXNQ-6867), Maurice (PBYR-4446), Bacarri (SNTH-3447), Mark (CNNDY-8338), Ellen (PDMR-3339), Ana (WKTH-7749), Marta (FTRM-6474), Jennifer (HCDD-9899), Emma (KKBK-7433), Marianlly (TCMK-3493), Simone (KCDF-6439), Abi (THHX – 7977) and Susie (TBPQ-6943).
We’ve handpicked some of their feedback to gain an insight into their day. For some of our diverse models, this was their first assignment while for others, it was another consecutive chance to expand their skills.
Ahmed left us with this:
“Recently attended a photoshoot in Manchester for Greene King – Six Nations and I absolutely loved it, fully enjoyed every aspect of the shoot. I didn’t know what to expect but once I was in I felt comfortable, the directors were great as well as my colleagues. We started with a few stills then went on to video. All in all, I’d definitely return and definitely would recommend to anyone.”
Whilst Abi supported her experience by sharing this:
“I had my 4th job with Models Direct yesterday in Manchester for Greene King and wow, what a fantastic experience. Everything was professional but so so fun! We all laughed from start to finish and everyone on set was just amazing and friendly. Gemma was great as usual too in the lead-up to the shoot& after the shoot! I really hope to land more of these jobs! Thank you Models Direct.”
Finally, Marta expressed her time with the following recount:
“I had another photoshoot with Greene King in Manchester and it was great as always. Great atmosphere from the very beginning, we laughed a lot but everyone was very professional. Gemma was very helpful as always, before and after the photoshoot. Thank you Model Direct.”
They all did so brilliantly and we’re very proud of their hard work and dedication to the modelling assignment.
Even though our modelling agency isn’t a sport, we follow the same work ethics as rugby players – where glory is earned through grit and where we pride ourselves on winning campaigns just like this one!
