Over the last 30 years we’ve placed many models in promotional shoots all around the UK.
Abbot Ale needed 20 male and female models for their promotional of their famous premium beer, which is enjoyed by thirsty connoisseurs by the truckloads (not in one sitting, mind!). And what could be a better setting for a beery promotion than in a pub? Oh, you lucky models!
The ale is made from three types of hop and is the perfect match for comfort food, such as Sunday roasts and fish and chips. Coupled with the winter feel to the shoot and the cosy pub setting, our models jumped at the chance to get stuck into the assignments, which was spread over three locations.
Abbot Ale is brewed by Greene King brewery, which has thousands of hospitality venues dotted around the UK. Though the brewery was founded in the late 19th century, it prides itself on moving with the times and is consequently always striving to find innovative ways to make their range of award-winning beers even more appealing to the Great British Public. And that usually starts with finding the right people – step up our models!
There’s something so uplifting about our traditional pubs: welcoming, warm, sociable and serving hearty grub with fantastic refreshments. Could they be the ideal modelling location? You’d certainly wouldn’t find many models that would disagree!
The “mega shoot” took place in Birmingham, Nottingham and Macclesfield – the Nottingham shoot requiring 13 models to create a realistic, unpretentious pub scene enjoyed by everyone on a typical evening out. There was a winter feel to the shoot, gearing us up for the forthcoming colder months. Picture the scene: gloomy weather and nights drawing in, but you and your mates are snug in a homely pub with beer quite literally on tap. How wonderful!
The Abbot Ale promotional was another example of an industry leader wanting to reach an even wider audience, and choosing Models Direct as their “go to” agency to gain the best results. And all of our models didn’t disappoint.
Considering the number of models required by Abbot Ale, it wasn’t surprising that we had one of the best selection of feedback ever. Here is a pick of the best:

It’s always satisfying to hear of first-time models getting chosen after being on our books for just a short time.
Anita was equally as exuberant after her assignment. “This was my first modelling experience. I thought it’d be all photos, but we starred in a promotional video as well. The crew was great, and my colleagues were very friendly. Thank you guys, and I’m looking forward to the next one!”
Other snippets of the evaluation included: “Awesome”, “brilliant” and “One of the best days of the year!”
