Booking models – a client guide

Published: 2nd Dec 2024

Whether a business has worked with us for several years, or whether a company is thinking where to acquire the best real-life models from, we thought it’d be useful to publish a blog on booking models from a client’s perspective. It’ll provide invaluable information to those curious about how we collaborate with clients, and it’ll also serve as a reminder to our models as to how we work.

First, a little background information on our history. We started in 1990, evolving from a love of photography. We worked on a few photoshoots which would usually involve asking models to return to our studio. From there, we sent photos to companies, which blossomed into auditions, viewings and castings. An increase in interest and demand meant moving into a larger studio, then we applied to the Department of Employment – resulting in us being issued with one of the very first modelling agency licences. Growth year on year is where we find ourselves today – as the UK’s no.1 commercial modelling employment agency.

It’s important for models and clients to know our history. Our success hasn’t happened overnight; it’s stemmed from sheer hard work, with healthy doses of ambition and knowledge.

How do clients book models with us? And how do we recommend the most suitable models to them?

A lot of companies know that real-life models are the most effective way of marketing their products. They know that commercial models appeal to customers, and so they make the first step by contacting us to be one of our clients.

We vet all clients for two main reasons: to ensure the safety of our models, and to maintain a healthy working partnership for future bookings.

Once a company / brand has become a Models Direct client, they can send us their specific briefs for models. It could be for male or females, more mature models, babies, pets, sports / fitness models, plus-size models…we have every type of model to fit their specifications.

When they’ve sent us their request, we’ll recommend several models to them that fits their assignment brief. They’ll have access to each model’s e-portfolio, which includes a model’s name, age, gender and an array of photos and/or short reels. The client can then select the model / s they’d like to work with them. We’ll get in touch with the chosen models and tell them the good news, assisting them from the start of the booking to the end of the assignment.

There are some key points that brands should know about our working standards, either before or after they become a Models Direct client:

1. Our rates are the most competitive around.

2. Our booking team at Norwich HQ will do their very best to find the right models for every client’s needs.

3. We understand that some timescales are different from job to job, so we’re experts at finding the ideal model on short notice.

4. We’re extremely approachable so we encourage both clients and models to contact us with any concerns. There’s nothing that can’t be rectified or overcome.

5. We brief our models before each assignment. We emphasise that punctuality and professionalism on set is paramount.

6. Our success lies largely in working in an ethical and fair way. It’s a two-way process, after all.

We welcome new clients at any time. Get in touch with us to see how your marketing campaigns can reach new levels by hiring the best commercial models around.

We’ve loved working with hundreds of successful brands over the years, and look forward to assisting them in the future.
