But this year, why not think out of the box when it comes to treating your mum on March 22?
It can be difficult to find space to organise something when you are rushing about between modelling jobs – but some bright ideas need not be difficult or time consuming to organise.
In Britain, Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday has its roots in religion: it was the fourth Sunday in Lent, three weeks before Easter.
In the 16th century, this was the day that people would return to their mother church, often the one they were baptised in.
Later it became the day servants were allowed time off to return home to visit their families.
By the early 20th century, the tradition had lapsed but was resurrected in the US by Anna Jarvis, who campaigned for a commemoration of the day.
This was seized on by retailers in the UK and by the 1950s, Mother’s Day was back on the calendar, firmly established as an occasion to be marked by children young and old.
So, what can you do this year to show your mum just how special she is?
Those on the go between fashion model jobs will find there are some great indoor and outdoor options online that can be ordered via their phones in a matter of minutes.
Arranging for a small lemon tree, lime tree or olive tree to be delivered is quick and easy and will give her something to love for years to come.
Mother’s Day is a Sunday and busy fashion models heading home for the weekend in the past might well have booked a table in a local pub or restaurant.
Well why not shake things up a bit this year? Contact your nearest hotel or fine tearoom and arrange to have afternoon tea there. Your mum might even appreciate a glass of something fizzy with it!
Those involved in modelling for teenagers will be juggling their fashion modelling jobs with school and will be lucky to find time to go shopping.
Whenever you have a free moment, why not work on a playlist for your mum? Find the songs you know she likes and ones you think she might like – or that have special meaning to you both.
She will be touched by your thoughtfulness and once you have put it on her phone will be able to listen to it for evermore.
Who doesn’t like to be pampered? Your mum is no exception! If she treats herself anyway, find something she hasn’t considered before, such as a hot stone massage or body scrub.
If she is always on the go and rarely has time to stop then a manicure, pedicure or facial will be a real treat.
It will give her time to relax, make her feel great and show her just how much you care.
Whatever you choose to do, take lots of photos, not only do they make wonderful memories, but who knows you could use them on your modelling ePortfolio too!
