Modelling job special requirements: Please be mindful of cattle.
Not the most common request for commercial modelling, but never a truer word spoken when Sean and Catherine packed their wellies and headed to the picturesque Wester Drumlochy farm in Perthshire, Scotland.
The shot was organised by marketing agency PMN Group on behalf of their client MSD Animal Health. They are a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical enterprise operating in more than 150 countries, so we were privileged to be asked to recommend two models for their recent photo shoot in the Scottish countryside. And when clients ask, we deliver.
The purpose of capturing the images was for the launch of a new cattle vaccine – no doubt welcomed by farmers throughout the UK.
Our models were asked to bring specific clothes to depict a true representation of rural life: jeans (no fashionable holes, though), chequered button-down shirts, gilets, and dark plain-coloured wellies. They were also asked not to wear excessive jewellery or false nails, and to keep make-up to a minimum.
Once they had the professional farmer’s look nailed, the photographer went to work by capturing images of Catherine and Sean simulating farming life. This included dishing out cattle feed and general sweeping, pausing for the camera to catch them gazing over the herd when the sunrise allowed them, and posing as vets and farmers themselves. All in all, a delightful photo session in the middle of the Scottish countryside – and they couldn’t really say fairer than that.
What they could say was this:
“This was my first assignment with Models Direct and I have to say that the process could not have been easier or more enjoyable. Charlie was great providing details and support over the telephone and by email, answering queries and providing a line of communication between the booking company and me.
“The shoot itself was great fun to work on. Despite the very early start everyone was cheerful, professional and encouraging, and conversation flowed pretty freely throughout the day, around the shooting. Instructions and expectations were clear, and I was made to feel very comfortable throughout the day. A great experience from start to finish.”
Sean told us: “I signed up with Models Direct knowing that it would be a bit of a gamble and I might not get any work, but within three months I received my first job. I was modelling for a veterinary pharmaceutical company, taking on the role of a farmer and a vet.
“I did one and a half days’ work and as it was on a farm it was a very early start. Charlie from Models Direct kept me informed right up to the day of the job, what was required, what I had to wear and what I would be doing. Communication was first class.
“On the day of the shoot everything was well explained and I had a great time. The weather was good and it was fun working alongside animals even though they could be unpredictable at times! The crew were friendly and relaxed and I felt comfortable throughout. I even got a full breakfast and hot chocolate so can’t complain! Both days we finished early and the crew were happy with my work.
Charlie checked in on both days, which was a nice touch. Overall I had a great experience and would highly recommend Models Direct as a company. They are professional, well-run and the communication has been excellent.”
Farming is a famously tough life, so at the end of their second day’s shooting, our modelling couple must have been ready to hit the hay.
