There wasn’t a need for our models to keep their cards close to their chest in a recent assignment with online poker cardroom Pokerstars. The company is the world’s largest “real money” online poker site, so it’s only natural that they wanted two “real people” to help them with their Christmas 2023 promotion.
It was a huge job for our models. However, Pokerstars didn’t have to gamble at all, knowing full well that we have the largest collection of talented commercial models from which to choose. After we recommend several models that fit their brief, Pokerstars chose Karolina and Marcus – models with stacks of modelling experience, having worked with many of our clients before. Karolina had been chosen previously by a famous car brand and for a marketing job with Peroni, whereas Marcus worked with Greene King and even dressed up as Ken for a particularly glitzy Barbie launch in Shepherd’s Bush. With over 10 years’ modelling experience, Marcus can adapt to just about any commercial modelling situation, and he excelled working with Karolina.
It’s worth noting that Marcus and Karolina are just two of our many models with repeat bookings under their collective belts. Experience can help – naturally – but we’ve placed literally thousands of first-time models with our clients, and there are opportunities for everyone on a daily basis, regardless of age, gender and background. You don’t need any experience, let alone 10 years’ experience.
The Pokerstars assignment was in the form of a photoshoot. Their website generates millions of views, so one can only imagine how many people have seen Marcus and Karolina without knowing they came from the Models Direct stable of talent!
They were asked to pose as a young poker-loving couple, to illustrate how families can bluff (or lie!) their way through the Christmas period. We’re sure you’ve received at least one duff present that you said you loved, but just wanted to throw away. Over-cooked, dry turkey you claimed was “delicious”? Were you genuinely looking forward to seeing the in-laws again? We’ve all done it, right?
Pokerstars conducted a poll to find out which scenarios us Brits commonly bluffed our way through at Christmas time – the results can be found here, along with the confident and camera-friendly Karolina and Marcus, both wearing striking Christmas jumpers in the colours of the Pokerstars logo.
One thing that didn’t need to be bluffed: our models’ excitement when they were picked, and their joy post-shoot.
