Why We Need to Speak to You

Published: 5th Aug 2024

Our Models Direct modelling agency always wants to speak to our new applicants. For our potential baby and child models that’ll mean one of our coordinators reaching out to your parents or guardian on your behalf. It’ll be the same for pets looking to showcase their animal cuteness and skills. We’ll be getting in touch with pet owners who’ve applied.

Unfortunately, our expert team cannot move your application to the next level which is where our panel assesses you and determines whether you can join the MD team. This phone call plays a big part in the qualification process which is why we’re dedicating this blog to reaching out to all of those who’ve applied.

So, why must we speak to you to help propel your model application? Here are the reasons why:

Apply to be a model

Understanding your potential

Factors such as experience and motivations for modelling give us an understanding of who our potential models are and why they want to model. Chatting with you also includes checking your specific look, style and overall potential as a professional model.

Understanding you

Aside from learning about your professional career and motivations, we want to understand your personality, hobbies and interests. Your availability and commitment level are also discussed to see if you’ll be a good fit for the flexible demands that a modelling career with our agency entails.

Verification purposes

When our coordinator speaks directly to you, they can go through the verification process, confirming that you are who you say you are and that there’s a genuine interest in modelling.

Expectations, ours and yours

Hire a model

Our agencies use this all-important call to walk through the expectations that come with having a modelling career.

Professionalism, punctuality and reliability are some of the skills we expect our models to exclude when working in this industry.

Our coordinator also elaborates on areas such as building a portfolio, updating your skills and providing extra info about your features that would interest potential clients.

If you are sucessful we also discuss our modelling fee which covers three years of representation with our agency. This is fully redeemable with your first paid MD model booking.

One of our male models, Roy, had an assignment and left us with this wonderful review which demonstrates our team’s strong communication with him before and after his booking:

“This was my very first modelling assignment and having never done anything like it previously, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I can say without hesitation, this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish!

From the initial contact from Gemma at Models Direct, who explained everything in advance via e-mails and telephone calls, through to the actual day of the shoot which was interesting and fun!

I was on set with around 15 other models a number of who were also on their first assignments, we hit it off as group straight away and we had a great day together. In fact we immediately set up a WhatsApp Group after the shoot so we are able to keep in touch with each other…..new friends, what more can you ask for? 🙂

And again, after the shoot had finished, I received another phone call to congratulate me and make sure everything had gone okay. All in all, a fabulous experience and I’m already looking forward to the next one!!!”

Next steps

Your call concludes with our team expressing what they’ll do after the conversation has ended. We explain how our agency works hard to get you gigs however, the decision ultimately lies in our clients’ hands. If they like your look, you’ll get booked!

So, remember, when you’ve filled out our online application form, please expect a call from one of our expert modelling coordinators who’ll be taking you through all the points of interest mentioned above.
